Dr. Atik is a stereotactic and functional neurosurgeon with more than 14 years in clinical practice. At the University of Chicago Department of Neurosurgery, his work centers on the surgical treatment of chronic and neuropathic pain: microvascular decompression and radiosurgery for trigeminal neuralgia, spinal cord stimulation, deep brain and motor cortex stimulation, and intrathecal drug delivery for pain that has not responded to medical care.

He also leads research on network-level analysis of the brain and the integration of each patient's brain wiring (tractography) into surgical planning, working alongside the University of Chicago's multidisciplinary functional neurosurgery team.
